Non-excitation drum (tube)-type (G) tap changer
De-energized pipe-type tap-changer

Scope of Application and Features of the Product
A new three-phase tubular switch consists of a switch body and an operating rotary mechanism. In the transformer’s no‑excitation state, by switching the tap position, the transformer’s turns ratio can be adjusted to achieve a stable voltage output. Single‑phase tubular switches and “1+2” phase tubular switches are suitable for vertical mounting, while three‑phase tubular switches can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.
This product series is suitable for large and medium-sized oil-immersed power transformers operating at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, as well as special‑purpose transformers and fully sealed transformers. It is applicable to both flat‑top tank designs and bell‑type tank designs, with a maximum equipment voltage of 252 kV or lower and a rated current of 4,000 A or less.
Tubular switches boast numerous distinctive features and have been safeguarded by multiple national patents.
(1) Tubular appearance, simple and crisp; no structurally unreliable components, no flimsy parts—reliability is immediately apparent.
(2) The torque required for rotation is light, and the feel upon reaching the correct position is crisp and distinct. Design features: The two components mutually constrain and complement each other, with adjustments finely tuned. Shifting is smooth and effortless, precise and reliable—clearly superior to comparable products.
(3) The external housing eliminates complex conductor connections and an outer cover, adopting a sealed design with high-voltage‑resistant insulation. Even when the mounting clearance for the switch is so narrow that it must be positioned close to the transformer core, no discharge or breakdown will occur.
(4) Furthermore, a groundbreaking technique has been developed to extract the entire internal structure of the tubular switch in one go, greatly facilitating final assembly and maintenance.

The usage scope and technical features of tube-type tap-changer

This is a new three-phase tube-type tap-changer, which consists of the tap-changer body and an operating turning framework. When the transformer is de-energized, the tap position can be adjusted to change the transformer ratio and stabilize the output voltage. The single-phase and “1+2” phase tube-type tap-changers are suitable for vertical installation, while the three-phase tube-type model is suitable for either vertical or horizontal installation.

These series of products are specially designed for large or medium oil-immersed power transformer, full hermetically transformer or transformers for specially used , they are frequency normally on 50Hz or 60Hz, and suitable for flat type or bell-type oil tank , its Highest voltage for equipment is up to 252kV and below ,rated current up to 4000A and below.

This product has many technical features and owned a certain of national patent right protection .

(1) Simple and lively appearance ,reliable structure equipped with solid construct pieces .

(2) Light moment, turn over tap position clearly. The product has technical design features as following: body pieces are restricted each other and functioned each other, you can change the tap position freely and exactly, compared with the same type of products, it has obvious superiority features.

(3) No conductors and switch cover being equipped on the outer body of product . This is a full hermetially outer insulation screen which can withstand high voltage impulse .so no puncture discharge will rise between the narrow gaps , even if the air gap of the tap-changer is very near the active body of the transformer.

(4) The inner structure of the tube- type tap-changer can be drawn out as a whole part , this helps to installation and maintenance.

WDG II Single-Phase Drum-Type No-Excitation Tap Changer
WDG II series de-energized drum-formed tap-changer

This switch consists of a switch body and an operating mechanism, employing a compression spring and annular moving contacts. It features a rational structure, simple operation, automatic positioning, a firm tactile feel, and excellent contact performance. It is suitable for oil-immersed transformers with frequencies of 50 Hz and 60 Hz, rated voltages up to 40.5 kV, 126 kV, and 252 kV, and rated currents ranging from 200 A to 2500 A. The switching unit is mounted on the transformer tank or on the lower tank flange, while the operating rotary mechanism is fixed to the tank cover, enabling tap changing under no‑excitation conditions.

This type of changer is comprised by tap-changer body and operating mechanism, Being adopted by crank principle ,compress spring and ring-type motive contact, They have the merits of reasonable in structure ,operating simply ,location automation, good in handling and contact reliable etc, It is suitable for oil-immersed transformer with frequency of 50 or 60Hz,highest voltage for equipment 40.5kV or 126kV and 252kV,rated current from 200 A to 2500A, The body of tap-changer is fixed on the tanking transformer or on the body of lower part of oil tank, The operating mechanism is located on the tank cover, they must be working under non-energized condition.

Features of the drum switch:

1. Switch Body Section:
a. The rotating parts adopt a new structural design, ensuring smooth rotation and low operating torque, thereby enabling normal operation even after the switch has undergone drying treatment (under high-temperature conditions).
b. An automatic positioning device has been added; once the moving contact passes the “dead center,” it automatically locks into position, eliminating misalignment of the moving contact and providing a robust operating feel.
C. A guide sleeve has been added, ensuring accurate and convenient insertion of the operating lever during secondary assembly.
2. The operating mechanism of the switch:
a. A new flange‑clamping fixation method is adopted, allowing the mechanism’s flange to rotate freely in accordance with the switch body’s position angle, without requiring adjustment of the position‑indicator angle.
b. Simply align the joystick with the actual length for a secure connection, simplifying the assembly process.
c. When the operation is not fully completed, the handle cannot be locked into position, preventing the cover from being fitted; this feature helps to prevent misoperation.

New features of drum-formed tap-changer

1. The part of tap-changer body
a、The turning part of the tap-changer is made of new structure ,turning flexibly and small operating moment. It can work normally after the tap-changer is dried with high temperature.
b. The automatic orientation device is built into the switch; once the moving contact passes through the “dead point,” it can orient itself automatically, thereby eliminating position excursion. This operation provides the tap-changer with a strong operating feel.
C. The direction guiding barrel is added in the switch, when the switch is assembled once again, the operating pole can be inset to the position exactly and conveniently.
2. The part of the operating mechanism
a. The flange is fixed with a new installation method, allowing the flange on the operating mechanism to rotate freely in accordance with the rotation angle of the tap-changer body. No adjustment of the tap-changer steps is required.
b. Only connect correctly to the operating pole using its actual length, which makes assembly easier.
C. When the tap-changer is turned to the end part of position, the handle pole can not be gone forward and the cover can' t be put on, this will prevent the tap-changer from any fault operation.
